Microsoft Adds Video Player That Lets Users Chat While Watching

, seeking more than revenue
from Internet advertising, introduced software system that lets users
to exchange messages while watching online videos.

Messenger television combines the Windows Live instant-messaging
program with picture software, Microsoft said today in an e-mailed
statement. Users will be able to watch and share cartridge holders from
companies such as as 's MTV Networks and Sony BMG.

Microsoft, the world's biggest software system maker, is expanding
its Internet concern to spur online advertisement gross sales and catch
up with , proprietor of the YouTube picture site. YouTube
already demoes advertisements on its place page and alongside some clips. PepsiCo Inc. and News Corp.'s Twentieth Century Fox program to run
ad political campaigns on Messenger TV, Microsoft said.

The service will initially be available in Europe, where
there are 95 million users of Windows Live Messenger. There are
240 million Messenger users worldwide, Microsoft said.

Microsoft, based in Redmond, Washington, 12 cents to
$29.39 in Nasdaq Stock Market trading on May 9. The shares have
fallen 17 percentage this year.
